Headlight Restoration FAQs

There are really three options when your headlights are foggy or yellowed:

DIY kits ($10–$30) — These can give you temporary results but most don't include a proper UV protective coating. Without that coating your headlights will fog up again within weeks or months.

Headlight replacement ($200–$800+ per pair) — This is almost always overkill. If your headlights are just cloudy or yellowed, you don't need to replace them — you need to restore them.

Technically yes — but only for a few weeks at best. WD-40 temporarily fills in the microscopic scratches on your headlight lens making them look clearer, but it offers zero UV protection, attracts dirt, and can actually damage the plastic over time.

The real problem with foggy headlights is UV oxidation — the factory clear coat has broken down and the plastic is degrading. WD-40 doesn't fix that. It just masks it temporarily.

With a proper commercial grade UV coating applied correctly, professional headlight restoration should last 3 years or more. The key is the UV protective coating — without it results can fade in weeks.
